Los Angeles Metro

Sharon Guilliams – Regional Coordinator

Sharon Guilliams began ringing handbells at Red Hill Lutheran Church in the early 1980’s and was a part of the 1988 Marching Handbell Choir that led off the Rose Parade.  She began directing in 1993 when a choir director asked her to start a children’s choir, and currently leads two bell choirs associated with the South County Community Handbell Choirs, one chime choir and rings at Red Hill Lutheran Church.  She is also a handbell soloist. While an engineer by degree and vocation, bells are Sharon’s passion.  Sharon is known for her enthusiasm and a desire to incorporate bells into the worship service in creative ways.  She has resurrected multiple bell choirs in cities where she has worked and enjoys working with children and adults. Her other passion is riding with her husband on their tandem bicycle.

Contact Sharon for more information about handbells in the Los Angeles Metro area.

    Virtual Event

You are invited to participate in the LA Metro Christmas Handbells — Virtual Massed Ring Event.

The Event consists of a half-day Virtual Massed Ring (workshop) on Saturday, November 21, 2020, and a Watch Party on Sunday, December 6, 2020.

The end result of this event will be virtual handbell ensemble videos of two Christmas pieces that can be played at the participant’s places of worship during the Advent or Christmas seasons. The videos will also be used in the Pasadena Symphony’s virtual Christmas program, Home for the Holidays. You do not need to be in the LA Metro Region of Handbell Musicians of America to participate.

Our clinician is Alex Guebert, whose thoughtful direction brings out the very best in the music and the handbell musicians.
