Area 12’s LA Metro Region is proud to bring “Bell Jubilee – Let’s Get Back into the Swing of Ringing” to handbell enthusiasts in the LA Metro Region, as well as around the world via the virtual medium. During this ½ day event, you will hone and refresh your ringing skills by learning a piece of music under the tutelage of Christian Guebert and members of some of LA Metro’s premiere handbell ensembles. The premiere handbell ensemble ringers will actually be ringing alongside participants. The format for the workshop is a typical rehearsal of a piece interspersed with “mini-moments of learning” taught by the members of the premiere handbell ensembles. We will review proper technique as well as proper execution of articulations, all the while having fun doing what we love.
Some of the pluses of this workshop:
- No preparation is required.
- No need to bring anything.
- You can learn from a fabulous director and ask ringers from LA Bronze or Cathedral Bells how to do something without the whole group having to hear your question!
- You can go home and say you rang with LA Bronze or Cathedral Bells (wink wink).
- If a majority of your group comes, you will have a piece of music ready to perform with only 1 or 2 more rehearsals.
We request that unvaccinated ringers participate virtually in this event. Based on current conditions and facility requirements, masks will be required while in close proximity to people and indoors. You will be asked to sign a COVID questionnaire/waiver for the in person events.
Please complete the on-line registration via the Link below. If you are registering a group, that is fine. Please include the names and preferred ringing positions in the registration form.
The fee for attendance at the event is $20 per person for members of Handbell Musicians of America (HMA) and $30 per person for non-members of HMA. Choirs may register for a fee of $140 per choir for HMA members and $210 for non-members of HMA. Payment may be made through Area 12’s PayPal account included in the registration site or link below, or payment can be made the day of the event. If paying by Paypal, please use the “pencil icon” on the donate page to enter “Bell Jubilee” so that we can more easily credit this to the appropriate event. Please note that any checks MUST be made out to AGEHR Area XII, and should note “Bell Jubilee” in the memo line.
