Events

Every other year, Area 12 holds a conference that brings together the ringers throughout its region: from Hawaii and Nevada to parts up and down the state of California. For this reason, the Area 12 conference moves around. During off-conference years, regions hold spring rings, directors’ workshops, and other educational events. And there are always handbell concerts to be found, especially at Christmas time.

To learn more about the Area 12 conference, check the Area 12 conference page for updates as they become available.

To add your concert to the calendar, you can submit the event online or contact the webmaster with the name of the group, date, time, and venue address of the event.

You will work the pieces up to performance level in only two days, with 4-1/2 hours of straight rehearsal, and a run-through right before the concert on Saturday afternoon: it's intense! But if you love to ring, it's also very fun!

  • Larry and Carla Sue in Concert

    May 5, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Los Altos Lutheran Church, 460 S El Monte Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022, USA

    They're back!

Just three years ago, Larry and Carla Sue left the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Holland, Michigan. Since then, they have spent their time proving that yes, you can play eight bells with only two ringers, and they've built a thriving online music business in the process. Now they're back in the Bay Area to showcase their talents as a duet and feature their music.

Larry and Carla first met when they started chatting via an online handbell community. Their in-person meeting was delayed (since Carla lived in England and Larry in California), but a year after they finally connected at a handbell event in 2010, they were engaged. They have been arranging music for handbells and performing duets together ever since. So far, their performances have taken them to New York City, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey, and they have been featured at weddings, memorials, concerts, corporate events, worship services, holiday events, classes, workshops, and even on television.

This dynamic duo plays with an ease that showcases what can be accomplished with just two ringers and only eight handbells. The Bay Area is pleased to welcome Larry and Carla back in a one-time concert this spring — don't miss it!
