Area 12’s Conference Choir offers the chance for intermediate to advanced ringers to play some more difficult music in a showcased choir setting. This year’s conference choir, Fireworks Carillon, will be under the direction of P.L. Grove.
The Conference Choir is an elite track that begins on Thursday, July 2 and ends with a concert Friday afternoon, July 3. P.L. will choose several or all of the seven pieces to be performed for the concert.
Ringers wishing to play in the Red, White & Bells Conference Choir Ensemble should be intermediate to advanced ringers with a good command of handbell technique, experience ringing complex and difficult literature, and the ability to play the instrument with a significant level of musical expression.
Participants will be expected to attend all rehearsals on Thursday and Friday and participate in the concert on Friday at lunchtime.
Participants will be expected to purchase the music and prepare ahead of time.

There is an application submittal process that is required for participation in the Conference Choir Ensemble.
To complete an application, interested ringers should:
- Send a letter of interest that gives the following information:
- How many years have you been ringing?
- What position(s) you have played? (please list the actual bells and octaves)
- What position(s) do you prefer to play? (give at least three positions in order of preference)
- List all handbell techniques at which you are skilled.
- List any other musical instruments or vocals at which you are skilled.
- List any other musical experience you have.
- List all handbell groups with which you have played on a regular basis (six months or longer).
- List all handbell choirs you have directed, if any.
- List all non-handbell musical ensembles you have directed or taught, if any.
- Submit a letter of reference from a director who has observed you both in rehearsal and performance settings.
- Submit a link to a video that showcases your ringing abilities. Please note that a video submission is preferred but not required for completion of the application process.

Adjudication and Acceptance:
Applicants will be adjudicated by an impartial panel. Those individuals ranked with the highest scores by the adjudication panel will be accepted.
Ringers will be notified of the final Conference Choir selection by approximately May 15th and ringers will be expected to purchase and prepare the music in advance of the conference.
The cost of participation in the Conference Choir is $125.00 (plus $20.00 registration fee). Payment of this registration fee is required in order for participants to receive a ringing assignment and music notes.
